DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer down -0.9%
For the week ending March 14, 2009, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer reversed course and stripped out the prior week’s gains by dropping -0.9 percent. All things tied to the auto sector continue to drag down the overall economy, with car, truck and steel production accounting for -0.8 percentage points of the barometer’s decline in the latest week. By contrast, the consumer sector continued to show signs of improvement, but unfortunately for car manufacturers buying a new vehicle isn’t on households’ agendas.
